El mejor mantenimiento para tus calleras en 5 pasos

The best maintenance for your Grips In 5 steps

The Grips are a protective tool used to protect the hands during intense cross training workouts, more commonly known as crossfit. They are designed to cover the palm and fingers, and have a wrist strap to keep them in place.

The Grips picsil are typically made of resistant and durable synthetic leather (An example are our models: Condor and Golden) or another option is carbon fiber (In this case, we could be talking about our models: Falcon and RX) both are designed to withstand the friction and abrasion that can occur during exercises involving bars (pull up, toes to bar, muscle up, toes to ring) weights, and other equipment we can see in any box where the popular "crossfit" is practiced.

The Grips picsil provide an additional layer of protection for the hands and help prevent blisters, calluses, and abrasions that can occur during intense workouts. They can also provide a better grip on the bar, which can improve performance and reduce the risk of injury.

In summary, the Grips we use to enjoy our wod are an important tool for athletes looking to protect their hands during intense workouts and improve their performance in exercises involving bars and other equipment.

How to care for our Grips?

  1. Clean your Grips regularly: After each use, clean your Grips with water and mild soap to remove any sweat or dirt that has accumulated. Let them dry completely before storing.
  1. Avoid washing the Grips in the washing machine: Although it is tempting to put your Grips in the washing machine to clean them, this can damage them and reduce their lifespan. It is better to wash them by hand.
  1. Do not expose them to direct sunlight: While it may be tempting to leave your Grips in the sun to dry faster, this can cause them to dry out and crack over time. Instead, let them air dry in the shade.
  1. Store them properly: Storing your Grips properly is important to maintain their shape and prevent damage. Store your Grips in a cool, dry place, and make sure they are completely dry before storing.
  1. Replace them when necessary: The Grips can wear out over time and lose their ability to protect your hands. If your Grips are worn or broken, it's time to replace them with new ones. Picsil Grips range

By following these tips, you can take care of your Grips and extend their lifespan so you can continue training comfortably and safely.

Does the material affect maintenance? Differences between synthetic leather Grips and carbon fiber Grips

The synthetic leather Grips and carbon fiber Grips are two popular options for athletes looking to protect their hands.

Here are some of the main differences:

  • Material: The synthetic leather Grips are made of a durable synthetic material that mimics the look and texture of leather. The carbon fiber Grips, on the other hand, are made of a durable and resistant carbon fiber composite material.
  • Durability: Carbon fiber Grips tend to be more durable than synthetic leather ones. Carbon fiber is a strong and lightweight material that does not wear out easily, while synthetic material may wear out more easily over a long period of time depending on the frequency of training.
  • Sensation: Some athletes prefer the sensation and grip of synthetic leather Grips, while others prefer the feel of carbon fiber Grips. Synthetic leather Grips can be more comfortable and flexible, while carbon fiber Grips can offer a firmer grip on the bar.

The choice between them will depend on personal preferences, desired durability, each person's training intensity, and their weight. Therefore, the maintenance involved should not be a factor to consider when choosing our perfect Grip, as in both cases it will be the same and we will only notice variability in drying times.

Freezing the Grips to eliminate bad odor: Myth or reality?

In an extreme situation, when all the guidelines mentioned above have not been sufficient and we still perceive a bad odor in our Grips, we can proceed to freeze them (very occasionally) as follows:

  • Place your Grips in an airtight bag.
  • Place them in the freezer for about 50 minutes.
  • Remove the Grips from the freezer and let them air dry without direct sunlight. That is, in the shade.

¡This way we will eliminate the microorganisms causing the bad odor!
