The Grand Final ... or something.
Here we are, the end of the Open, after 4 weeks the last week of this process has arrived. And if you were waiting for 'Uncle Dave' to give us a great final, he is still waiting. The 19.5 is tan Spectacular as an Open WOD can become.
It is a VU, a variation of Fran as those that are usually every year. Thrusters and pullupps (Well C2B because they are easier to judge), and this year in very large lots. Basically there are 2 frans in a row without rest. If you have done the Fran, I know yes, then you know that this is death by 2.
How do we focus this wod?
The WOD is as follows:
33, 27, 21, 15, 9
Thruster
CHEST TO BAR
TC: 20 '
While last year in 18.5 we had an AMrap with an ascending repetition scheme, this year is a for time with a descending scheme. So On the one hand it has an end, because you cannot make more than 210 repetitions, but on the other hand the suffering lasts 20 minutes, and also starts with very long sets of repetitions.
It doesn't matter how we face this wod because, It will hurt. So a key is to prepare for suffering. It is a very mental job, and again, the strategy plays a main role.
Thrusters
- Do not miss the opportunity; When you take the bar, take advantage of the momentum and do a cluster in the first repetition;
- Part of the series Before you need it. The thrusters 'Pican' and really hurt when you go to the limit, so the key is to never reach the limit;
- Short series with little rest expires long series with a lot of rest;
- Weight should not be a problem for most, not as much as the ability to make repetitions. If you finish the training you would have made 105 repetitions, and that is a feat.
C2B
- Choose between Butterfly or Kipping. Making C2B Butterfly is faster, but it accelerates the pulsations more and when you rest you will need more time. Making Kipping is slower, but your shoulders will appreciate it And you can have a better strategy with the series and breaks. Unless you are spectacular making C2B Butterfly consider doing kipping.
- You really need to evaluate your series. And my advice is to stay conservative. I definitely suggest going for a smaller number of repetitions that you can maintain throughout the WOD.
- Think of your hands !!! Especially if you plan to repeat. And it's the last week, why not repeat? But 105 repetitions for each attempt your hands will have a good challenge ahead. Use your Grips Picsil and save your hands. As always, my favorites are Azor Grips 3h since they are the ones that cover me the most and are manageable enough to feel the bar and protect my hands.
So what should you stay with?
Well, it is definitely a WOD of great suffering and little fun. The Thruster and the C2B are tan Boring as they may be, but it's enough to make you cry. He intelligent, plan a strategy and achieve success. It is the last week and for most of us it is time to pats on our backs and go to have that well -deserved beer after having tested our status one more year ... or in this case, until October! Good luck!
